Obituary

Ms. Annie Marie Bronson, 69 of 318-C Giddens Street, Clinton, NC passed on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Sampson Regional Medical Center, Clinton, NC.

The graveside service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Sandhill Cemetery with Rev. Leonard Henry officiating.

The burial will follow the service.

Affectionately called “Annie” or “Marie”, Annie Marie (Melvin) Bronson was born on September 13, 1951 to the late Arthur and Marie Rich Melvin in Tomahawk, NC. Annie Marie was called to her eternal rest to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 9, 2021 in Clinton, North Carolina. Annie Marie was a graduate of Clear Run High School in Tomahawk, NC and afterwards matriculated to Sampson Community College.  Annie Marie was united in holy matrimony to Albon “Ben” ronson (2/3/1949 – 8/22/2015).

Annie Marie moved to Passaic, New Jersey where she was employed as a city bus driver for NJ Transit System.  Annie Marie later moved back home to take care of her mother. Always willing to serve others, Annie Marie became a member of Trinity Church in Tomahawk, NC and was an active member.

Subsequently, Annie Marie moved to Clinton, NC and joined First Baptist Church where she served in many auxiliary committees. These committees included the Praise Team, Adult Choir, Christian Education, Silent Worker, The Women’s Guild, Pastor’s Aid, Hospitality Committee, the Food Pantry and Women’s Day Committee. Annie Marie was also active in the community where she was a part of the Breast and Cervical Cancer Program and the Sampson County HIV / AIDS Task Force. Annie Marie lived to serve and always provided a helping hand to others.

Annie Marie texted good morning text messages with cartoon memes daily and fellowshipped with group texts and Facebook.  Additional texts consisted of stylish Sunday church service attires and stylish grooming of her beloved dog, Jazz.  Many of Annie Marie’s family and friends learned of her sudden death because they had not received their daily text since 4/9/2021. 

Along with her parents, Annie Marie was preceded in death by one brother. Annie Marie’s memory will forever be cherished by her brother, Arthur Jeffrey (Phyllis) Melvin of Delway, NC; two sisters, Terrie Packer and Mary Melvin both of Garland, NC. 

Marie also leaves to mourn, her “special” daughter for over forty years, Nicole (Brown) Greene and son-in-law of Anthony Greene.  Loving grandmother of Kelsea Crockett, Isaiah Greene and Micah-Michelle Greene (Brooklyn, NY) and beloved dog, Jasmine “Jazz”. Great Aunt of Deonada Renee and Great-Great-Aunt of Kaydence Autry. 

Sister in Christ and Partners in Crime to Gwen Allen (Norcross, GA), Johnny Barber (Passaic, NJ), Ivory “Scamper” Witherspoon (VA) and Coretta Hill (Passaic, NJ).  Aunt in Christ of Marva Allen (Norcross, GA) and Mandy (Allen) Hill & Tyrone Hill (Passaic, NJ) Keisha Oliver (Asbury Park, NJ) & Jesse Oliver (Asbury Park, NJ).   Great-Aunt in Christ to Kyle (Asbury Park, NJ); Rahid; Najee, Ahmadd and Naee’mah (Norcross, GA).  Great-Great Aunt in Christ to Shore, Nylan, Meili and Ja’Riah (Norcross, GA).

A very special friend to Pat McRae and a host of four aunts, one uncle and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
